MARIAN ANDERSON

Marian Anderson was a legendary black African American contralto singer from the 1920s to the 1960s. She was also the first black person to perform at the Metropolitan Opera in 1955! Some of her songs include: Softly Awakes My Heart, Adeste Fideles, Trampin', and Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen. She passed away in 1993 at the age of 96.
