LUDWIG BEMELMANS

Ludwig Bemelmans was an Austrian-born writer and illustrator from the 1920s to the 1960s. He wrote novels and biographies, but he is certainly best remembered as the author of the Madeline children's stories. The first Madeline book was adapted into a 1952 animated cartoon short directed by Robert Cannon. Some of his other books include: A Tale of Two Gimps, Marina, and To the One I Love the Best. He passed away in 1962 at the age of 64.
