JEAN HERSHOLT
Jean Hersholt was a much-liked Danish actor who made 142 movies, mostly between the middle 1910s and the early 1940s. He had a series of movies where he played the benevolent Dr. Paul Christian, but he is surely best remembered today for his many humanitarian deeds, including helping found the Motion Picture Relief Fund, and his name is attached to one of the most prestigious Academy Awards, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Some of his movies include: Greed, Dinner at Eight, and Grand Hotel. He passed away in 1956 at the age of 69.
