JEAN ARTHUR
Jean Arthur was famous during the 1920s to the 1950s as a smart, cute, sassy, and sexy screen personality. She was a major star of the 1930s, but she was far from an "overnight success"! She was born in 1900, and appeared in 46 silent movies, mostly in minor roles. Once sound movies began, she quickly gained stardom, no doubt partially due to her distinctive voice, and she became a major star in her middle thirties! Her final movie (a great choice for a swan song) was Shane. Some of her movies include: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, You Can't Take It with You, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, Seven Chances, The More The Merrier (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Only Angels Have Wings, The Talk of the Town, The Whole Town's Talking, and many more! She passed away in 1991 at the age of 90.
