BARBARA LA MARR

Barbara La Marr (born Reatha Dale Watson) was an actress in the 1920s. Sadly, she is remembered as one of the first drug-related deaths in Hollywood when she passed away in 1926 from tuberculosis (she was known for being a partier, who at one time was addicted to morphine, and surely these also contributed to her demise). It seems that little is known about her private life. We have read that she had many husbands, and that she gave birth to a boy, whom she "adopted" to avoid scandal. When she passed away, she was 29, and her child was adopted by best friend and actress Zasu Pitts and her husband, and he was renamed "Don Gallery". Some of her movies include: Desperate Trails, The Three Musketeers, The Prisoner of Zenda, and Strangers of the Night. La Marr was surely an interesting woman! She only slept two hours a day, because she felt life was too short to waste it by resting. She also was quoted as saying, "I Like my men like I like my roses... by the dozen"!
