KENNETH ROBERTS
Kenneth Roberts was an American journalist and author of historical novels from the 1910s to the 1950s. Some of his works include: Northwest Passage, Lydia Bailey, and Arundel. Northwest Passage was turned into a movie by MGM in 1940. They only filmed the first half of the book, because that allowed it to have a happy ending, which Roberts intensely disliked. They had told him that they would film the second half as a separate movie, but when the movie did not earn back its production costs, they canceled the second movie. Roberts felt sure that they had never planned on filming it, since they left out a key character from the first movie, who played a major role in the second half of the book. Roberts passed away in 1957 at the age of 71.
