HOWARD FAST
Howard Fast was a writer from the 1940s to the 2000s. He was blacklisted after refusing to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee, and he spent time in jail for contempt of Congress, but during that time he wrote the novel "Spartacus"! No publisher would publish it, so he self-published it and it became a best-seller and the legendary Stanley Kubrick movie was based upon the novel. He wrote other movies and TV screenplays, and passed away in 2003 at the age of 88.
