BARBARA JO ALLEN
Barbara Jo Allen was a comic writer who created the character "Vera Vague", a man-hungry spinster, in the late 1930s, while she was appearing in radio shows; Bob Hope then hired her and she appeared with him on radio and in his USO tours; she appeared in over 50 movies, frequently playing the character Vera Vague, and often being billed as Vera Vague; she tried to have a career playing other parts, but she was hopelessly typecast as Vera Vague, and retired in the early 1950s. She passed away in 1974 at the age of 68.
