GENE KRUPA

Gene Krupa was a drummer and bandleader from the 1930s to the 1970s. It was his idea to create the tunable tom-tom and he was one of the first drummers to use a hi-hat as we know it today. He also was the first drummer to record using a bass drum. Krupa passed away in 1973 at the age of 64.
