BOB KEESHAN

Robert James "Bob" Keeshan was an actor and producer from the 1940s to 1999. He is best remembered as the title character of the children's television program Captain Kangaroo, which became an icon for millions of people during its 30-year running on CBS from 1955 to 1984 (and then it was on PBS for six more years). He also played the original "Clarabell the Clown" on the Howdy Doody television program. He passed away in 2004 at the age of 76.
