New York Yankees are an American professional baseball team that was founded in 1901. Originally in Baltimore as the Orioles, since the New York Giants refused to let another team be established, the team became the New York Yankees in 1913. Yankee Stadium has been home to the Yankees since 1923 (though it was replaced in 2009). They are one of the most successful sports clubs in the world, and have won 18 division titles, 40 AL pennants, and 27 World Series championships, all of which are MLB records. Famous players include: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and many more!
