Lillian Roth (born Lillian Rutstein) was an actress from the 1920s to the 1970s. She started in vaudeville with her sister Ann as "The Roth Sisters", but when Lillian started making movies, the sisters went their separate ways. Lillian was a sexy actress whose turbulent off camera life gained her far more notoriety than her movie work. She had stage fright and other nervous disorders, and she self medicated with alcohol and drugs, and she soon became an alcoholic and was married six times, and was never single for long. Her life was the basis for the movie "I'll Cry Tomorrow" starring Susan Hayward, which brought alcoholism into the consciousness of mainstream America. Some of her movies include: The Love Parade, Animal Crackers, Boardwalk, Madam Satan, and Communion. She passed away in 1980 at the age of 69, ironically living longer than Susan Hayward, who passed away in 1975 at the age of 57.
