WILLIAM A. WELLMAN

William A. Wellman was a legendary director and producer from the 1920s to the 1950s. Some of his films include: Wings, The Public Enemy, A Star is Born (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), The Call of the Wild, The Story of G.I. Joe, The High and the Mighty (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), Battleground (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), and The Ox-Bow Incident. He was primarily known for action films, but he proved his ability in non-action movies such as A Star is Born! He passed away in 1975 at the age of 79.
