An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Oregon Trail, the 1936 Scott Pembroke cowboy western (based on the story by Lindsley Parsons; set after the Civil War, about an army captain whose colonel father is killed by a renegade soldier looking to set up his own country, and the captain takes a leave of absence to avenge his father's death, and he joins a wagon train on the Oregon Trail, so that he can meet his father's killer) starring John Wayne, Ann Rutherford (in her fifth credited movie role!), Joseph W. Girard, Yakima Canutt, Frank Rice, E.H. Calvert, and Ben Hendricks Jr. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fine. This poster was linenbacked and during the backing process, its defects were repaired and it now looks great! See below for its pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). very good to fine. There was a 2" tear in the top left corner. There were three 1" tears in the lower right blank border (one extends into the edge of the image). The bottom left corner of the poster has a semi-circular tear that separated the lower left corner from the poster (just extending into the edge of the image, the very edge of the image background and there is small paper loss in the bottom left corner of the image and the left edge of the bottom blank border). There were a few other small tears and creases around the edges of the blank borders. The image area had the tiniest of holes at the crossfolds and extremely minor fold wear. The above is the complete extent of the defects for this extremely rare and desirable poster! In these days where so many posters have had a fair amount of restoration, it is very refreshing to see an important poster with so little restoration! The linenbacking was very well done, and the poster looks wonderful! Learn More about condition grades
