An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Russian Movie Poster (measures 28 1/2" x 42 1/4") (Learn More) The Tiger's Tail, the 1919 Robert Ellis, Louis J. Gasnier silent adventure (about a cult of Hindu tiger worshippers and a gang of Western outlaws who try to cheat a young woman out of rich mines that belong to her) starring Ruth Roland, George Larkin, Fred Kohler, Harry Moody, George Field, Mark Strong, Bud Osborne, Chet Ryan, Rose Dione, and Easter Walters. Note that Ruth Roland was second only to Pearl White as being best remembered from silent serials of the 1910s. She started in movies in 1909, but in 1915, after the great success of White's "The Perils of Pauline" the previous year, Roland starred in her own 14 episode serial called "The Red Circle", and she went on to make six more serials for Pathe. After 1925, she only appeared in three more movies, returning to the stage where she had performed before entering movies. She passed away in 1937 from cancer, at just 45 years of age. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had extra creases along the foldlines and a couple of tears near the center of the top border, extending into the first word of the writing. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
