An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) The Green-Eyed Monster, the 1919 Norman Film Manufacturing Company black African American silent romantic railroad train adventure melodrama ("WITH AN ALL-COLORED CAST"; "Stupendous All-Star Negro Motion Picture"; "A Big Special Production in Eight Reels of Thrills! Action! Punch! $1,000,000 Railroad Equipment Used in this Production"; "Endorsed by the most Prominent Colored People of America as being the greatest picture of its kind."; "Five smashing reels of Thrills! Action!! Punch!!!"; "See the $80,000.00 train wreck in 'The Green Eyed Monster'"; the movie deals with two men in love with one girl and also two railroads competing for the same route; to determine which railroad should be given the route, a race between the two trains is organized, and of course, the man who won the race would also be the one who would win his sweetheart; the producers of the movie claim that over $1,000,000 of railroad equipment was used in the movie and that a climactic train wreck cost over $80,000!; the "Green Eyed Monster" of the title referred to both jealousy, and also one of the trains in the movie) starring Jack Austin, Louise Dunbar, Steve Reynolds, and Robert Stewart. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. The poster had many creases, tears, and areas of paper loss throughout the entire poster, more so along the foldlines. The poster required considerable restoration, but I felt it was not advisable to paint over any entire areas of the poster, because I thought it is far more important to preserve as much of the actual poster as possible, and what is wrong with seeing how aged the poster is, given that it is over 85 years old! So you can see signs of the considerable restoration throughout the poster, but you can also clearly tell that the poster has not been heavily re-painted (except in areas where there was actual paper loss), and that the restoration, while extensive, is only in the damaged areas. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. It has now been repaired to a point to where I would think any collector of black African-American movie paper would be proud to display this poster on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
