An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) The Spoilers, the 1914 Colin Campbell silent Alaska gold rush romantic love triangle gambling action thriller ("From the the famous book by Rex Beach"; "A gripping, sensational photo-drama of Alaskan life"; "In 9 reels, 3 acts"; about a man in Alaska at the time of the Gold Rush, and he has a great claim and a pretty girlfriend, and a bad man tries to take both away from him) starring William Farnum ("as Glenister"), Kathlyn Williams, Tom Santschi, Wheeler Oakman, Bessie Eyton, and Frank Clark. Note that this movie was remade four times, in 1923, 1930 (with Gary Cooper), 1942 (with John Wayne and Marlene Dietrich), and 1955. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned two one-sheets and a herald from this movie until we received this three-sheet! Note that this three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Also note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Condition: good. After the poster was mounted onto the kraft paper (see above), the borders of the kraft paper were folded over the front of the borders of the poster and glued down. Metal grommets were inserted into each corner to make the poster easier to hang. The poster also has many pinholes around the edges and some scattered throughout the image, with a 6" tear in the lower left corner, extending into the tagline. Any talented restorer could certainly remove this poster from the kraft backing and properly re-back it, and afterwards, it will look wonderful, but bear in mind this expense before bidding on this poster.
